About StringLink HK

Turning Interest into Action

Here at StringLink HK, we hope to spread music to every corner of the world. We deeply believe that it is everyone's right to pursue their music dreams, no matter what their family backgrounds are. We want to make it possible for underprivileged children to learn the instrument they want to, and feel the beauty of music with us.

Meanwhile, we also draw attention to one of the UN's 17 sustainable goals - Responsible Consumption and Production. We hope to maximize the utility of the scarce resources on Earth. Instead of letting them be left idle and unused, StringLink gives these instruments a second life for them to shine and spread music in the world.

Music is the literature of the heart - where words end, music speaks. Here at StringLink, we are not only interested in serving the underprivileged music community, but also in the psychology behind how our heartstrings connect through musical performance and expression. Therefore, we aim to provide a unique platform for academic discussion on psychology which bridges the gap of understanding between our emotions and auditory enjoyment.

Meet the Team

Founder

Alayna Shu

Alayna is the founder of StringLink and a F5 student at SPCC. As a passionate violinist, Alayna actively organises and performs in a wide variety of charity shows both locally and internationally. Alayna believes that everyone should have equal access to resources in the society and rights to pursue their musical dreams. Putting her goal of helping the needy into action, Alayna founded StringLink in 2023 and aims at making a real change to the underprivileged.

Editor in Chief

Venus Mok

Venus is one of the editors in chief for StringLink and a F5 student from SPCC. Venus has been passionate about the cello, piano and choral music, as well as the psychology in music. She believes that music is a language that bonds people together, one that everyone should have full access to. Through the regular sharing and research on mental behaviour and support through music, Venus hopes to provoke readers’ personal feelings when enjoying and creating music.

Editor in Chief

Jayden Yiu

Jayden is one of the editors in chief for StringLink and a F5 student from SPCC. As a long time violin and piano enthusiast, music and volunteering have always been his passion. Therefore, Jayden hopes to extend the joy of picking up an instrument for the first time to the needy through StringLink, as well as to promote the importance of music as a therapeutic medium through exploring a wide variety of genres.

Phillippa Wong

Phillippa has been learning the violin and piano since the age of 5. Phillippa is devoted in spreading her love for music within the community and wants to make a change. Eager to make music accessible and affordable for underprivileged children who share the same passion, she puts her thoughts into action.

Yau Cheuk To

Cheuk To is one of the general administrators for StringLink and a F4 student in SPCC. Having played the violin and piano since small, Cheuk To is exposed to the world of music. With an outspoken character, he likes to use music to influence different people in society, and is persistent in alleviating the hardships of the needy. He is also active in other voluntary works regarding music, wishing to inspire the lives of underprivileged by kindling their interests and potentials in music
